I was allowed to handle the microphones.
I didnt care for it. I tried to avoid it.
I prefered giving hour talks on Sundays.
Actually they were 55 minutes back in the old days.
were you one of those deemed "qualifed for this privilege":??
?

I have read Bertrand Russells, why I am not a Christian several times.
Its a good read on lifes journey.
After watching the above video, Russell says he made up his mind about his beliefs about God at 18.
Thats kind of scarry, information was limited back in Russells day.
For many Religion and a belief in God help a person survive a harsh world.
They help one when they are struggling to meet their basic needs.
All bible based religions are not like the Jehovahs witnesses that hamper onese attempts to survive.
Many encourage education and advancement in life and society.
Many Christian churches profit by educated money earning parishoners.
Russell making his mind up about there beiing no God at 18 was/ is just as
arrogant and subject to being mistaken as I was in knowing there was a God and
the Jehovahs witnesses were his mouthpiece at 18.
Russell appears to have lived an easy life, when all your needs are met from early on
when life presents no struggle and your mind is made up at 18, You might not see any
need for God, or any evidence of God.
We are all jaded and God doesnt force anyone to believe in him.
Belief in God is strength for the believer.
I dont believe in anything.
I'm like John Lennon, I just believe in me.
Not egocentrically, but I am the only thing I kind of know.
I dont think I would litterally die for the freedom to believe what I choose.
In 60 years I have learned to be invisible and observe.
There are things about America for the past 60 years that I dont believe in.
If it got too bad, I like to think I would do like my great grandfather and move to a better country.
On second thought, I do believe in is Maslows hiearchy of needs,
At this time he says I am self actuating.
Why would I want to screw that up and die for my right to think what I want.
Everybody can think what they want, Even the lowest wretch in communist Korrea.
When your dead, your worse off than a living dog.
The trick is to get what you want without destroying your vessel.
do any of you use medical marijuana?
i go to aa and there are a few who believe medical marijuana is an "outside issue" and they are ok with it.
i don't know... alcohol doesn't work for me but if it did, i would use it... i wish i could find a "new drug" that works lol.
The government intervenes because they are reveneurs they want to tax everything.
America runs by the golden rule.
He who has the gold makes the rules.
Jack Daniels, Busch, Miller, Diageo distillers, Pernod Richard want you to spend your discretionary
money on their products, they dont want any competition.
The sickening thing about it many of these alcohol companies are not even American any more and they are
telling us what to do.
You also have the confused religious element that wants everybody misrable all the time, so they
feel like repenting and giving their discretionary money to the church.
There is nothing wrong with marijuana.
Its kind of hard to tax if you can grow it in your back yard.
A lot of people I know that smoke dont drink much, at least when I see them they are smoking not drinking.
I was hoping legalized marijuana was one of the changes Obama was talkng about.
sometimes people with ordinary understandings and expectations encounter things outside their experience.. they deal with it and move on.
they tell people and answer questions.. eventually, somebody explains it and the incident (and the story) goes underground.. .
......only to re-emerge.. if it is an unusual incident or report eventually there will be others who come along.
Life is stranger than you think and stranger than you can think.
A ufo is a UFO its unidentified.
We are all sheep lead here and there. Translated we are consuming units to be harvested.
I have never paid attention to any ufos I have seen, and I dont pay attention to other people seeing ufos.
But if someone told me they saw a flying saucer, I'd start to note.
Now its no longer unidentified. Its been identified as a saucer that flies.
If the saucer could jump up and down and sideways at incredible speeds, that is more of a description
and identity.
If there were some excellent videos in this information age where every young person has a computerized
camera in their pocket that would be even better.
Back to your point, Terry
The point of my topic is how something NOT IDENTIFIED becomes....not only (imaginatively) IDENTIFIED....but, passed along with more and more details added.
You can take 20 people in a controlled enviroment and whisper a sentence in the first persons ear
and have each person whisper the sentence when it gets to the 20th person the sentence will
be unrecoganizable.
Human beings have a very difficult time communicating.
life come from the living, and this is a universe of life.
his teachings are truth.
which is why i weight it against the truth of the teachings (and one other thing that i will get to).
I think there is evidence of God.
But what God is and what God wants is highly debateable. And religion and man manipulate
what God is and may or may not want, ultimately for power.
jehovah's witnesses don't have a message.
they have an alternate lifestyle.. for persons put off by teachings of eternal torment they offer eternal sleep or a paradise earth.. for christians disaffected by tepid sermons and rituals they offer a vital lifesaving field service ministry.. in a world saturated in sex and exhibitionism, loud rude music and apathy they offer modesty of dress, cleanliness and worldwide family.. they are seen by the world much the same way as the amish only more modern.. people find their teaching quaint or laughable but think they are sincere and eager for postive change.. .
this is a brand more than a religion.. when the average person looks at jw's they see loyalty.
I was born in back in 52, I never got a chance to buy the lifestyle.
All I could do was escape it.
as ex watchtower followers, we know much about the bad ideas and influences the wbts somehow manages to extract, rationalise and justify from the bible.. some, like myself, will assert this is because they use an illegitimate template or framework, namely religion, which is not of god.
this template or framework, it seems to persons like myself, distorts and obscures the bible's central message and intent.. have you managed to extract and keep anything good from the bible?
how?.
When I left the Watchtower Agency and set off on the road to destruction, atheism, agnosticsm,
I read the bible cover to cover numerous times.
I recall from my repeated readings that the book of Ecclesiates sums, up in my mind,
mans condition.
And at times when life bends me out of shape, i crawl back to my bible and read Ecclesiates.
Its a short book. It can be read in about an hour.
I find after reading Ecclesiates uplifted.
at some point in my life, i would really like to write a book about my jw experience and jw teachings in general.
however, if i did, i would preferably like to write from a unique angle that makes the book a little different from the many others out there.
i can imagine some being quite self-indulgent, and i would want to avoid that wherever possible.. i must confess, due to a variety of circumstances i am not well read when it comes to all the various ex-jw books out there.
I read 30 years a Watchtower Slave. I read it 30 years ago.
It was probably a different organization back then. The information would be up to 60 years old.
There has been lots of new light since then.
I did read both of Franz's books "Crissis of Concience" and "In Search of Christian Freedom".
twas looking at youtube and a girl murdered someone she was jealous of and got away with it.. .
6 months later she confessed due to guilt.. .
if we were created that could make some sense.. .
Guilt is not biological.
Its a thought process, an indoctrination.
